Bio:
Monica is the second oldest child of Eirin and Ingmar Motorsen. As a child she enjoyed helping her mother out with her garden as well as going fishing, which she often would do wherever there was a body of water.. it didn't matter to much if it was the ocean, a lake or the nearest swimming pool...
Just like her mother, and well, pretty much all of her siblings, Monica too suffered from this unpleasant mental condition that seemed to plague this family. As a child she never understood its origins, though her younger brother and her older sister Ranveig all thought it came from this one gigantic space rock that crashed into their backyard when they were younger.
The condition wasn't easy to deal with, and Monica did her best to hide it and was eventually became pretty good at it, going seemingly unaffected for months (apart from the fishing in swimming pools thing), but every now and then she would have her visible episodes too. Their mother Eirin always tried to play it down and do her best to keep a low profile about it. Nothing was wrong with her family, no, not at all.. they were just a little... eccentric at times.

This led Monica to suppress as much as she could that they were suffering from an illness, and it wasn't until her older sister - at Lise Veronicas 13th birthday, when she began to suspect that she too was suffering from this conditon - decided that enough was enough, and made sure that all three of them finally went to a doctor about it to have them all diagnosed with schizophrenia and get the appropriate treatment to keep the illness in check.
Monica was always a curious mind from an early age and in particular all the time she spent in helping her mom in the garden made her really curious about most things related to plants and gardening, and even more questions showed up in her young mind when that space rock almost landed in their backyard and almost obliterated their entire house...
Having spent plenty of time playing chess with her older sister Ranveig on her fathers chess board, she was already as a child excelling in the skill of logical thinking, but that did not satisfy her thirst for knowledge of the world.. and the universe.. and already from an early age she decided to dedicate her life to science, and in particular to research on plants and the possibility for alien life forms, if not necessarily meaning alien in the form of extra-terrestial, though she would be open for that possibility too.
